  • Betsy Atkins

    Betsy is a highly acclaimed public company Board Director and author. Betsy has served on some of the world's most visible Global public company boards. For 25 years, she has worked behind the scenes at companies like Lucent, HealthSouth, Wilmington Trust, and Paychex Corp.

    Betsy started her business career as an entrepreneur co-founding several successful high tech companies including blockbuster Ascend Communications, a NASDAQ company achieving $5.4B in revenue in 9 short years. Betsy has been CEO three times dramatically scaling, building, and repositioning businesses resulting in acquisitions and public offerings. She has a strong international and operational perspective encompassing the full range of experience from explosive growth to restructuring.

    Betsy has been known for her venture capital firm Baja LLC's technology investing acumen in companies such as Yahoo and eBay.

    Corporate Board experience covers all industries including healthcare, manufacturing, financial services, technology, retail and consumer products, etc. She has led many boards through complex issues: crisis, acquisition, mergers, liquidity crisis, etc. Her governance perspective is comprehensive and thoughtful based on firsthand experience.

    Betsy is widely published in the Corporate Governance world including the Conference Board, National Association of Corporate Directors (NACD), and Corporate Board Member. Betsy has also been nominated as Director of the Year by the NACD.

    She is also a recognized "expert witness" on Corporate Governance Best Practices testifying in the Adelphia bankruptcy case as well as before Congress on governance reform.

    Currently serving on four public company boards: Polycom, Inc., Chico's FAS, Reynolds American Inc. and SunPower Corporation. She is an Advisor to British Telecom.

  • Jean-Jacques Damlamian

    General Partner, Oak Investment Partners

    Jean_Jacques currently serves as the Special Advisor to the CEO of France Telecom. Prior to that, Jean-Jacques has been Group Executive Vice President in charge of Technology and Innovation at France Telecom, a telecommunications operator and network supplier, since January 2003. From January 1996 until January 2003, Jean-Jacques served as Group Executive Vice President in charge of the Development Branch of France Telecom.

    From April 1991 until January 1996, Jean-Jacques was Senior Vice President, Marketing and Sales for France Telecom. Jean-Jacques served as Group Vice President, International and Industrial Affairs for France Telecom from November 1989 until April 1991, and was its Vice President, Mobile Services from May 1988 until November 1989.

    Prior to May 1988, Jean-Jacques worked in various divisions of France Telecom. Jean-Jacques graduated from the Ecole Polytechnique and Ecole Nationale Superieure des Telecommunications, and he is a member of the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE). Jean-Jacques is a recipient of the French Legion d'Honneur and the Ordre National du Merite.

    In March 2001, Jean-Jacques was elected Non-Executive Chairman of the Supervisory Board of EUTELSAT S.A., a company that is incorporated in France and operates satellite services throughout Europe and other parts of the world. Jean-Jacques also serves as a director of Bull S.A.

  • Ambassador Robert S. Gelbard

    Robert S. Gelbard is Chairman of Washington Global Partners, a consulting company specializing in crisis management, risk analysis and project development and implementation, with regional emphasis on Central and Eastern Europe, the Middle East, Southeast Asia and Latin America. He is also a consultant to the Institute for Defense Analyses, the Department of Defense's primary think tank, and a member of Senior Defense Advisory Boards. During his prior career in the United States Foreign Service, he held numerous senior foreign policy positions, including as the President's Special Representative to the Balkans, Ambassador to Indonesia and Bolivia, Assistant Secretary of State for International Narcotics and Law Enforcement, and Principal Deputy Assistant Secretary for Inter American Affairs. Prior to joining the Foreign Service, Gelbard was a Peace Corps Volunteer in Bolivia.

    During his career in the Foreign Service, Gelbard received the Presidential Meritorious Award, the State Department's Distinguished Service Award, the United States Coast Guard's Distinguished Public Service Award and numerous other commendations. He was awarded the Condor of the Andes, Order of the Grand Cross, Bolivia's highest decoration for a foreign citizen, and the Medalha do Gaucho, by the Brazilian state of Rio Grande do Sul. Ambassador Gelbard is a member of the Boards of Directors of L-1 Identity Solutions, Inc, and Raydiance, Inc., the Boards of Advisors of Good Technology, Inc. and Atlas International Investments and Chairman of the Advisory Board of AAR Global Solutions. He is also a Senior Advisor to the Board of Kreab Gavin Anderson. His non-profit activities include the Board of Trustees of Colby College, the Boards of Directors of the Atlantic Council, Phelps Stokes and Project Medishare, and the Board of Advisors of the University of Notre Dame's Center for Civil and Human Rights.

    Gelbard is a graduate of Colby College and has a Masters degree from Harvard University. He holds honorary LL.D. degrees from Villanova University Law School and from Colby College, both for his work on peacekeeping and international democracy-building.

    Gelbard was a member of the Obama-Biden Presidential National Security Transition Team and a foreign policy advisor to President Barack Obama during his election campaign.

  • Buff Jones

    Buff has more than 15 years of executive management experience in the technology industry. Prior to TradeBeam, Buff was executive vice president of products at Macrovision, where she was responsible for product management, development, architecture and technical support of Macrovision's business-to-business and entertainment software products, both SaaS and deployed. Before Macrovision, Buff was vice president of the WebSphere Business Integration Development group at IBM, where she was responsible for a global, 1,000-person team that delivered a solution re-engineered on an SOA platform. Buff has also held senior management positions in Product Management, Engineering, Sales, and General Management at CrossWorlds Software, Merant/MicroFocus, Compuware, and Candle.

    Buff holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in Education from the University of California, Los Angeles and an MBA in Information Systems and Business Communications from the University of Southern California.

  • William (Bill) L. Keever

    Mr. Keever retired from Vodafone Group PLC in June of 2003 as Chief Executive Officer of the Asia Region. This retirement culminated a 38 year career in telecommunications. Bill served in a variety of management and executive positions with Pacific Bell, Pac Tel, AirTouch and Vodafone. He and his family lived nearly the entire decade of the '90s in Europe with Pac Tel and AirTouch. He became President of AirTouch International in 1998.

    Bill and his family relocated to Yountville in the Napa Valley shortly after returning to the US. They have founded Keever Vineyards, LLC which is a small, super premium Cabernet Sauvignon producer. Keever Vineyards opened its winery in the summer of this year. Bill serves as President of Keever Vineyards, LLC.

  • Martin Kinne

    Mr. Kinne is Managing Director Hewlett-Packard GmbH, Vice President Personal Systems Group (PSG).

    Prior to his position at Hewlett-Packard GmbH, Martin was Managing Director and Chief Marketing Officer (CMO) of the global business Siemens Home and Office Communication Devices. The company is a separate entity to the Siemens business division Customer Premises Equipment (CPE) and is a wholly owned subsidiary of Siemens AG. Their product range includes cordless telephones for fixed networks and Internet telephony (VoIP), broadband products as well as networked voice and data Multimedia solutions for the home and office.

    Martin was with Siemens AG for more than 17 years, where he held significant positions in the sales and marketing organizations. In 2002 he became Executive Vice President of Siemens Mobile Networks Europe and was responsible for the sales / profit and loss of the complete infrastructure business for 2nd and 3rd generation mobile networks within Europe. Prior to this, he was the Executive Vice President of Siemens Mobile Phones for Asia Pacific in Hong Kong, during which he was responsible for the sales, marketing, distribution, R&D, production and customer service activities for the region.

    Martin graduated in 1988 from legal studies (LLM). Additionally, in 1999 he acquired a Masters Degree of Science in Management (Sloan Fellow) from Stanford University, USA. Martin was born in Aachen, Germany. He is married and has two children.

  • Marc Levante

    Marc is a 20 year veteran in the mobile industry. Marc has worked 11 years in Vodafone in various positions and countries. These include being the Director of Planning, Design and Engineering of Vodafone Italy's mobile network in the late 1990s, and Technology Planning Director at a global level in Dusseldorf, Germany from 2001 to 2006.

    After Vodafone, Marc was the CTO in Openwave in 2006. He left Openwave to become CEO of Myzenplanet, a company developing social networking applications for mobile operators. Currently, Marc is also SVP of Business Strategy in Azingo, a company building an open operating platform for mobile handsets based on Linux.

  • Rowland T. Moriarty

    Rowland T. Moriarty is Chairman of the Board for CRA International. Rowland has been a Director of CRA since 1984. He has played a pivotal role in the growth of CRA, helping to guide the firm from a one-office company specializing in economic litigation to an international firm with 14 offices specializing in economic litigation, finance, and business consulting.

    Dr. Moriarty has been a consultant to more than 75 companies throughout the world and has served as a director of six U.S.-based corporations, including CRA. After receiving his D.B.A in Business Administration from Harvard University, Dr. Moriarty spent 11 years as a professor of Business Administration at Harvard Business School, teaching a variety of marketing courses in both the Executive and M.B.A. programs. He has authored or coauthored 50 publications on the subject of marketing.

  • John Muleta

    Mr. Muleta is co-chair of the Communications Group of Venable LLC, one of The American Lawyer's top 100 law firms, practicing in all areas of corporate and business law, complex litigation, intellectual property and government affair. John is the former chief of the Federal Communications Commission's Wireless Telecommunications Bureau. His tenure at the FCC has coincided with a number of milestone developments in telecommunications, including wireless broadband deployment, spectrum leasing/secondary markets, cell phone number portability, enhanced 911 and public safety initiatives, and the advent of the wireless Internet.

    Prior to his most recent appointment at the FCC, John was the president and CEO of Source 1 Technologies LLC, a privately held systems integration firm based in Washington, D.C. He was also a cofounder of OI Systems Inc., a Washington-based management consulting firm. John worked at PSINet, Inc. from 1998 to 2000, where he held the position of president for PSINet Ventures Inc. and prior to that, he was president of PSINet's Global Facilities Division and president of its India, Middle East and Africa Division. Prior to PSINet, John held a variety of executive positions at both the FCC and GTE.

  • Sebastiano Tevarotto

    Sebastiano has over 25 years experience in the IT, Telecommunications and Media industries. Sebastiano has spent the majority of his career with Hewlett Packard. Throughout his tenure with HP, Sebastiano has worked in Europe and the United States, before taking over global responsibilities. In addition to his career with HP, Sebastiano has also served as on a number of advisory boards of startups, helping those companies accelerate their growth in areas such as real time database software, mobile services and advertising.

    In his last assignment before leaving HP, Sebastiano was Vice President and General Manager of the Communications, Media & Entertainment Business. In this role he was responsible for managing HP's broad range of technologies, solutions and integration services for network, service and content providers.  His group was focused on helping the world's top service, content and equipment providers to successfully and profitably meet the demands of hundreds of millions of wireline and wireless subscribers worldwide for voice, data and rich media services.

    Prior to this his last expanded HP role, Sebastiano was Vice President and General Manager of the Communications, Media & Entertainment Business Field Organization for HP where he led sales and delivery activities for the service provider market. He previously served as general manager of Enterprise Global Marketing for HP and was involved in Marketing, Strategic Alliances and Global Accounts program management. Prior to his worldwide role he was responsible for the same function for Europe, Middle East and Africa.

    He began his career in Europe where he managed the growth of HP’s Enterprise business first in Italy, and then in Southern Europe, covering Italy, Spain and Portugal. Sebastiano also successfully served as General Manager for HP’s Telecommunication Business Unit in Italy.

    Sebastiano is a Board Member of US Telecommunication Training Institute (USTTI) in Washington DC. The mission of the institute is to provide tuition-free management, policy and technical training for talented professionals from the developing world.

    For over five years and until 2008, Sebastiano served on the Board at the Center for Telecommunications Management (CTM), University of Southern California (USC), Marshall School of Business

    Sebastiano holds a degree in Electronic Engineering from University of Padova, Italy.

  • Antonio Aleman Torres

    Antonio has more than 30 years of experience in the IT and Telecomm industry, 15 of them holding executive management positions.

    In April 2009, he retired from Vodafone Spain after holding the position of Managing Director for the previous six years.

    Prior to his position at Vodafone Spain, Antonio served as CEO of Lucent Technologies, Spain and Portugal. Antonio began his professional career with HP, where he spent 16 years in a number of management positions. He then went on to work with a number of other IT companies before joining Lucent.

    Since April of 2009 Antonio has been a member of a number of advisory boards in the IT and telecomm industry. He also provides mentoring and training services for managing directors and the development of sales teams.

    Antonio holds a degree in Mathematics from the University of Madrid, Spain.

  • H. Andre Thomas

    H. Andre Thomas is Founder and Chief Executive Officer of Wireless Ingenuity, LLc, a Venture Capital Development firm based in Bellevue, Washington founded in 2002. The company is a leading wireless innovation partner with mobile carriers in Europe, the Americas and Asia reaching over 400 million mobile subscribers. The company has represented over 20 venture backed wireless innovation companies resulting in the commercial deployment of new wireless services and applications including wireless push email, OTA Device Management, Instant Messaging and Presence and Mobile Enterprise Applications.

    Mr. Thomas has been in the Wireless industry since 1991 and has served in a number of Senior Executive roles with Vodafone Group, PLc and AirTouch Communications. Prior to founding Wireless Ingenuity in 2002, Mr. Thomas served as Vodafone Group Planning Director and Financial Director of Vodafone Group Services Ltd. He is the founding Managing Director of Vodafone Ventures. He had also served in a number of roles at AirTouch Communications, including Director of Corporate Development, Domestic Mergers & Acquisitions, Director of International Strategy, Development and Operations, Chief of Staff to the President and Chief Operating Officer, and Regional General Manager of AirTouch Paging.

    Mr. Thomas has participated in several significant milestones in the development of the global Wireless industry including the IPO of AirTouch Communications, the acquisitions of US West New Vector Group, Cellular Communications, Inc., the formation of the Bell Atlantic/AirTouch JV and PCS Primeco, the launch of Globalstar, the launch of Vodafone Group's Wireless Data Strategy and the acquisition of Mannesmann AG.

    Prior to joining the Wireless Industry, Mr. Thomas worked for 7 years with PricewaterhouseCoopers in a number of roles in Corporate Finance Mergers & Acquisitions in Denver, San Francisco and New York.

    He has an MBA from Harvard Business School and a BS in Accounting from the University of Denver.

  • Alex Serge Vieux

    Alexx leads Red Herring as its chief executive officer, publisher and chairman. Drawing on a 25-year career as an entrepreneur and high-profile journalist, he is building a content rich business media organization.

    Alex started his career at Andersen Consulting, implementing information systems (1982-1985). In 1985, he managed to serve as the business correspondent for the French daily "Le Monde" and has authored over 300 articles reporting on high tech as well as other industries. He also served as a special advisor to the French Minister of Industry, covering all issues relating to the high-tech industry, and in 1997 was named president of the Infotech Commission, under the auspice of the Minister of Economics and Finance. Repeatedly named by Time magazine as one of the 25 executives shaping a Digital Europe, he has been elected to the board of directors of ten public companies, including Tandem Computers (until the company's merger with Compaq), Computer Associates, Commerce One, BVRP, Daum and Check Point Software. Alex's contributions to the IT industry also include co-founding two banking software companies, CATS and Renaissance Software, as well as DASAR, a premier conference company.

    Alex graduated from the Institut d'Etudes Potilitiques and the French business school HEC. He also holds a J.D. Law degree from the Universite de Paris and an MBA from Stanford University, where he was a Fulbright Scholar.

  • Tom Wheeler

    For three decades Tom has worked at the forefront of telecommunications policy and business development, experiencing the revolution in telecommunications as both a policy expert and businessman. As an entrepreneur he started or helped start multiple companies offering new cable, wireless and video communications services, both domestically and internationally. As a policy expert he has been intimately engaged in the development of the government's telecommunications policy at both the legislative and regulatory level.

    On the twentieth anniversary of the cable television industry Cablevision magazine selected Tom one of the twenty most influential individuals in the industry's history. From 1976 to 1984, Tom was associated with the National Cable Television Association (NCTA), where he was president from 1979 to 1984.

    After several years as CEO of new technology start-ups, including the first company to offer high sped delivery of data to home computers and the first digital video delivery service, Tom was asked to take over the Cellular Telecommunications & Internet Association (CTIA). He served as CEO of CTIA from 1992-2004 and was selected to the Wireless Industry Hall of Fame.

    Tom wrote Take Command: Leadership Lessons of the Civil War (Doubleday, 2000) and Mr. Lincoln's T-Mails: The Untold Story of How Abraham Lincoln Used the Telegraph to Win the Civil War (HarperCollins, 2006). His commentaries on current events have been published in the Washington Post, USA Today, Los Angeles Times, Newsday, and other leading publications.

    Presidents Clinton and Bush each appointed Tom a Trustee of the John F. Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts where he served for 12 years. He is currently Chairman of the Kennedy Center affiliate VSA Arts, an international organization which touches the lives of over five million individuals with disabilities by providing equality of experience and accessibility to the arts. He is Chairman and President of the Foundation for the National Archives, the non-profit organization dedicated to telling the American Story through its documents. Tom sits on the boards of Core portfolio companies Roundbox, UpdateLogic, Jacked, and Twisted Pair Solutions. In addition, he is on the boards of EarthLink, and Helio.

    Tom is a graduate of Ohio State University and the recipient of its Alumni Medal for national and international career achievement. He resides in Washington, D.C.
